Dad's Photo Gallery And Short Biography

Raymond Eugene Morrow was born in Phoebus, Virginia, to Sarah and Benjamin Morrow, and had one brother whose name is Gay. Ray spent most of his early life in the Washington, D.C. area until the outbreak of World War II when he joined the United States Navy. After boot camp, he was stationed in California where he met my mother, a Wave also stationed there. In time, they were married, and he shipped out not long afterwards. He was on a destroyer during the war, and was only allowed to come home every so often. After the war, he was honorably discharged from the Navy, but he enjoyed military life but not the ocean so he joined the Army. There, he was with the Military Police and, eventually, the CID. He was a veteran of three wars and served his country for twenty-two years.

Gary Eugene Morrow, the eldest of three children, was born in 1947. His arrival was followed by Danny in 1950 and Linda in 1957. Dad always tried to help us all in any way he could. After we were grown and left home, he never pried into our lives, letting us make our own mistakes. When we did, he was there for us, always eager to give us a helping hand or offering a solution to our problems. He never forced his ideas on us but would say, "Well, do you think this might work?" or "Did you think about trying it this way?"

I guess dad was about 76 when he discovered the "Web". He asked me about computers, which one to buy, etc. I had an desktop at my place that I wasn't using so I told him to take it and use it to see if he would like it or not. Well, he loved it -- he learned how to do just about everything that could be done on a computer, and it tickled him to death.

My dad was many things to me. He was my teacher as a young man; he was my advisor when I hit a dead end in my life. He would listen when I needed to talk; he was my greatest supporter in whatever I attempted. He was my counselor, my friend, and my number one hero. Roy ,Gene, and Hoppy didn't have anything on my dad; he could outdo them all as far as I'm concerned. And best of all, he was my dad!

A Note For My Dad:
Well Dad, I took on another project down here, and I know that you are proud as always. I can see you now telling all the angels and everyone there with you, "That's my boy -- just look at him go".  I know that you were always proud of me whether I succeeded or not. I always had all your support because I was willing to try gave it my best shot. Although you are in Heaven, I am sure that Jesus will send His best messenger with the contents of this little note so that you can read it.

I really miss our talks, and those early morning breakfasts at Perkins we used to have. There were times I know I let you down, and I am sorry for that. I never got to tell you so many things that I wanted to say. I know I will see you again, and we will have all the time we need. For you it will only be a second, although for me down here it may be years and years. I miss you so much and I love you.

          Love, Gary

I don't have very many pictures of my dad, I'm sorry to say. Most of these were taken in the summer of  2001 and most of them on the same day. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do. If you don't have very many pictures of your loved ones, grab a camera and start snapping before it's too late.  You never know how long you'll have with them.
